Not Enough Hours in the Day

Have you ever had one of those days, weeks, or even months where you just don’t have enough time for everything you want to do? So there’s work and sleep, two priorities in my life that just don’t change. Then you throw in time with my husband, cooking and eating… God forbid I clean the house and do some laundry. And staying fit? When the heck do I fit in exercise?

Oh, did I mention I’m an artist and sometimes artists like to draw, paint, do photography, etc.? Yeah, good luck finding time for that stuff in a day.

It’s coming in on the end of the year and you know what that means?! News Year’s Resolutions that nobody EVER keeps! So, if you think I’m making a resolution that as of January 1st that I’ll make time for the things in my life that make me happy, you’re wrong. I need to start on that now, not wait. Waiting is for people who don’t really care enough. Waiting is for people that are really hoping they forget to even try in the first place. No offense to all you out there that wait to get anything done.

This coming weekend will be a good kick start to my “bringing back the arts in my life” movement. My husband and I are taking a trip with five other friends to the Ozarks for a hunting trip. Seeing as the guns are as big as I am, I’ll stay back at the cabin to paint, draw, and just enjoy my surroundings with my girls. Hopefully I can actually make time for this. I have to make time for this!

Pumpkin Carver Extraordinaire

We are having a Halloween extravaganza at work this and next week. I’m usually not a huge celebrator of this holiday but because it’s a team building thing at work, I’m all for it. We got to decorate our desks yesterday and today we carved pumpkins. I was the elected pumpkin carver for my department, also in need of reclaiming my dignity from last year. We lost miserably after I did a pumpkin rendering of Captain Jack Sparrow, but because apparently nobody in the office liked pirates, we lost.

This year was not going to turn out the same. Even though this friendly time of “fun” was not labeled a competition, it was in my mind. We decided that nothing would be more appropriate than using a character from The Office, and who would be better than Dwight K. Schrute? So here it is… my Halloween masterpiece!
