I am a believer in word of mouth. Don't tell my employer who keeps me around only for my ability to pay for advertising, but in all reality... word of mouth is the best advertising on the block.
Think about it, how did you find out about Blogger? Facebook? YouTube? Amazon? Did you see an overdone advertisement or did you follow the advice of a friend and checked it out? I'm going to go with the latter of the two. Thus, I've been brought to my point...
